About Contra Costa Christian Schools

Contra Costa Christian Schools is committed to the belief that every child is created for a noble purpose and that God's plan for its students will be realized by helping them become a vessel for His use. This belief can be seen in the schools' Mission Statement, Core Values and Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs). CCC firmly believes that a Christian education plays a large part in the fulfillment of this divine calling.

Founded in 1978 by a small group of parents representing a handful of Christian churches in the Walnut Creek area, Contra Costa Christian Schools has grown to become one of the premier Christian schools in Northern California. Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, CCC serves students from pre-school through high school. The campus draws students from over a hundred different churches, across a broad geographical area, which encompasses the entire Diablo Valley region, and includes students from as far away as the Delta region to the east, the Oakland Hills to the west and Danville and San Ramon to the south. This brings a broad cross section of students to the Walnut Creek campus.

Contra Costa Christian brings the Christian community together through schools operated for children from Christian homes. As a member of Christian Schools International, CCC employs teachers who instruct children in all aspects of life.

Our goal is to work with the homes and churches to produce graduates who love God, view the world from His perspective and are academically, socially and spiritually equipped to be godly members of society. We not only teach students how to prepare for life, we also teach them how to live.

Core Values

We are distinctively Christian. Our commitment to Jesus Christ in every area of our lives shapes every aspect of our teaching, our relationships, our philosophy and our management. We teach our students to view their lives and their world from the viewpoint of the Bible.

    • We are a learning community. Beyond our commitment to the highest academic standards, teachers and students engage relationally to discover God’s world, and His children’s purpose in that world. We bring the Bible to bear on all our activities so that students will grow in wisdom and discernment.

    • Academic excellence is a strong commitment for us, because this allows students to realize their God-given potential in all things, to be most effective as His servants in a complex world and culture. It is our goal that in this way God will be glorified.

    • Our job, as parents’ partners, is preparing children. Preparation is much more than just teaching. Through modeling, creation of leadership and service opportunities, and extracurricular activities, we enable students to grow in every aspect of their Christian faith and life.

    • We serve Christian families. The task of preparing children for Christian service in this complex world cannot be completed alone by the school, or by families – the partnership between the two, along with the local church, are critical to success.

    • We prepare children to fulfill His purpose for them. Every man, woman and child was created by God with a unique purpose. In the course of their education, it is our desire that students start to identify, prepare for, and live out that purpose.

    • Children are designed by God as builders of God’s Kingdom. We believe that “our world belongs to God”, as Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer of all of creation, humanity and culture. God is building His Kingdom, the new Heaven and Earth, and chooses to use His children to do it. This is the highest calling any human being can have.

How do your students perform on standardized tests?

Our students consistently score well above the national average in standardized testing. Students in grades 1 through 9 are given the Stanford Achievement Test once a year. High school juniors are required to take the PSAT and all seniors are strongly encouraged to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Further information on the schools’ test scores is available upon request.

Is there an opportunity for parents to get involved with the school?

Yes, we believe that God has given parents the primary responsibility of training their children. We see ourselves as being in partnership with Christian parents in educating their children. We encourage parents to become involved with the school, whether this is through helping in the classroom, accompanying students on field trips and to sporting events or working on campus. There are opportunities to serve on board committees, improve the school facilities on workdays and to get involved in our parent organization, Parents in Partnership (PIP) along with numerous other activities that will serve the students, serve the school and serve God’s calling for both. Parents are also encouraged to become voting members of the school Society as well.

We select textbooks and other support materials that we believe will give the students the best academic preparation for their next level of study.
