Course of Study
Language Arts
Language instruction equips students to act as God’s faithful stewards and healing agents in the world by learning how to communicate meaningfully, lovingly, truthfully, and effectively. The instruction is also designed to bring students to an appreciation of literature through a variety of language experiences and skills.
Reading Texts: Lippincott letterbooks, McGraw Hill Reading Series, Young Reader Medal Books,.
Printing Text: Manuscript
Course Content: The reading program is phonics based with an emphasis on reading for meaning and learning words in context. Students learn to recognize and read sight words, read and comprehend short sentences, make inferences from stories, predict outcomes, participate in oral reading, spell words which have direct sound-symbol relationships, and participate in enrichment reading activities. In addition to reading there is oral language development, grammar lessons, writing skills, and listening skills.

Mathematics
Mathematics is our attempt to describe the order of God’s creation in terms of number and shape. A balanced diet of math includes Exploration, (discovery, investigation), Precision (drill and practice of basic facts), and Application (using math in real life situations). Mathematics at the kindergarten level is an introduction to math processes through free exploration and directed experiences using hands-on materials which will result in an appreciation of number values and concepts.

Social Studies
Christians need to know about the people and countries of their world. The Social Studies program teaches Christ’s command to “love your neighbor.” Students will learn what this means as they study their family and community. We strive to instill them with love when interacting with neighbors. They are given the opportunity to understand different cultures and various social relationships. Their study focuses on holidays, community helpers, and travel.
