General Information
The Independent Study Program (ISP) is for Christian families who choose to home
school their kindergarten-12th grade children. At Contra Costa Christian Schools
(CCCS), we believe that home schooling is one valid way to educate children, and, in
some cases, may be the most appropriate way to educate your children.
PHILOSOPHY
Home schooling is one way to meet the Biblical mandate to train up children. It
takes into account the gifting of the home teacher, the lifestyle of the family and
the needs of the individual student.
As in all areas of life, home teachers should be accountable to someone and
should be able to seek guidance and help from that authority. That authority
should be able to encourage and guide the home teacher with help in many
different areas.
CCCS recognizes the unique contributions home schooling makes to our
communities. To help parents realize their Christian educational goals within
their homes, CCCS will provide the home teacher and the individual student
with as many services and opportunities as possible to aid in the fulfillment of
the Biblical mandate of training a child with a solid Christian education.
MISSION STATEMENT
CCCS exists to bring the Christian community together as a corporate (society) to
operate schools for children from Christian homes. To accomplish this, we
employ teachers who will instruct children in all disciplines of life. Our goal is to
work with homes and churches to produce graduates who love God, view the
world from His perspective and are academically and spiritually equipped to be
godly members of society.
BACKGROUND
Contra Costa Christian Schools was started in 1978 to educate the children of the
Christian community. Students at CCCS come from families who profess a faith
in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and who attend churches that are in
agreement with the school’s statement of faith.
CCCS recognizes a covenant relationship, which God has established with
believers and their children. In view of this relationship, CCCS affirms that
Christian education is primarily the parents’ responsibility. The teachers, staff
and administration of the school see themselves as an extension of the home in
assisting the parents in educating their God-given children. The ISP, therefore, is
an alternative way of educating children, which fits into the school’s philosophy
and goal.
