7th and 8th Grades Return from Hume Lake
Thank you to all of you who prayed for our week at Hume Lake. The 7th and 8th graders had a blast in the snow (2 feet of it!) and enjoyed snowball fight after snowball fight despite cold feet. We enjoyed classes like Meteorology, Wilderness Survival, Group Initiatives and Native American Life. Even though most of our classes had to be moved inside because of extreme weather, it was still fun. Students were challenged each night to be salt and light to the world by our speaker, Tyler Miller, who we remembered fondly from last year as well. God showed up in a huge way to bless our time together. We will never forget this year at Hume! If you want to spark up a good conversation with a middle schooler, ask about dead cats, epic snowfights or the best prank in the world! Special thanks to the parent counselors who came with us: Brad Farmer, Sean Fitzhugh, Nira Ferrer, Kim Walker, and Carrie Sanford!

Sixth Grade Science Camp - A Mountaintop Experience
Mt. Hermon is a Christian conference center nestled in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains. During the week of March 8 – 12, our sixth grade class traveled there to attend Science Camp and were able to experience God's amazing creation as their outdoor classroom. With tall redwoods for walls and a ceiling of starry skies, both days and nights were filled with unique learning opportunities as well as personal challenges that encouraged academic and spiritual growth. The experience each student had at Mt. Hermon will be one to carry with them for many years to come.

Leadership Council Team Selected
Congratulations to all of the students who will be serving on the 2009-10 Middle School Leadership Council Team. Students were selected to serve in three different capacities: Chapel Leadership, Student Senate and Student Representatives. Elected at the end of September, these students will meet on a regular basis to help coordinate events and represent their classmates in decisions that benefit the Middle School.
In addition, this group will be traveling to Fremont on October 22 to attend the ACSI Leadership Conference. We are looking forward to a great year in Middle School!

CCCS Middle School Service Project
Operation Christmas Child
This year our service project to help those in need will be a global one. Our mission will be to demonstrate God's love to needy children around the world. Together with the local church worldwide we hope to share the Good News of Jesus Christ!
We can do this by packing a shoe box for a boy or girl with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, among other things. You may pack a box for a 2-4 year old, 5-9 year old, or a 10-14 year old boy or girl.
We need to have our shoe boxes packed and given to Mrs. Dengerink by November 4 for an on time Christmas delivery. So let's get busy and share the love of Christ to needy kids around the world through this project!!
Please check out www.samaratinspurse.com for a list of gift ideas. There is also a list of items to not include because of mailing restrictions or delivery to war torn areas. |
